Leningrad Region is one of the most successful industrial regions of Russia With the most important logistics and transportation hubs, as well as high-tech enterprises. During the rule of the Russian Empire Gatchina was an elite suburb of St. Petersburg, and now Has become the most important center of science. Located near Saint-Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (PNPI) developed social and transport infrastructure that have become an important argument for the choice of this city as the site for the largest Russian innovation and technology park.

Nano Park Gatchina was created by Leningrad region initiative and is targeted to work with small & medium innovative enterprises and high technology production in sphere of nanomaterials, Nano electronics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medicine & radiation industry

The project is partly associated with ROSNANO through NorthWest Technology Transfer Center.
The second curator - Leningrad Region Innovative Development Agency (strategy & execution) and Agency of Economic Development of the Region (marketing & promotion). Nano Park Gatchina specialization lies in radiation technologies due to its close location to Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute.

At the beginning of cooperation Leningrad Region Innovative Development Agency joined forces with Lenoblinnovation Ltd. To work through the future concept of the project. Combining greenfield & brownfield features Nanopark Gathina should various residents with  orientation on Research & Development and production in field of nanomaterials. The idea was to gather the synergy effect by cooperation of R&D field with effective production capabilities to obtain mutual advantages.

The aim of the project - to create a brand for science-industrial park that carries out the work on the frontline in implementation of innovative developments to business and social sphere collaborating with major science center in both Russian Federation and foreign partners.

Brandson agency started from a complex research to cover all the key questions concerning the structure and special features of the project, future pool of residents, mechanics of their attraction and startup commercialization. Caring out significant number if expert interviews with members of Association of Industrial Parks (AIP), experts & consultants and top-managers of scientific-industrial enterprises we gathered deep understanding of Nano industry. Strategic session with brand ideology and project leaders expanded our knowledge in institutional modeling of innovational development and helped us to develop strategic concept vectors.

According to the views of our experts traditional sectorial segmentation of economy is no longer actual in terms of contemporary & future globalization processes. The major trend is creation of economy clusters -  special system of interrelations between various enterprises and organizations. One of the important features of this system is focus on innovations.

Most successful clusters emerge from fields of technological and technical innovative breakthrough that gives an opportunity to cover new market niches or reshape the existing market. In terms of 3rd industrial revolution the majority of resources are invested in R&D activities to create an appropriate ecosystem for new products creation if compared to  final product development. In such situation the position of scientists, researchers and innovators changes as they have to take part in both research and implementation of innovation processes.

Russian Federation and Leningrad region in particular has a number of significant factors. In terms of contemporary insertion of Russian economy most successful projects to be industrial parks - both Greenfields and brownfields. Nano park first concept was to become a complex techno park - property complex, which combines the scientific
research institutes, industry facilities, business center and exhibition space. Techno park aim is to simplify the creation and growth of innovative companies by means of incubation processes and separation processes new companies (the so-called spin-offs) from existing ones.

Techno parks proved to have a more elite image compared to industrial parks due to their importance to innovative economy. On the other side these projects require more investments and their concepts should be significantly thought through. Nano park conceived the creation of the laboratory and business incubator, and one of the key residents was planned to be North-West Centre for Technology Transfer.

The network-based interface system allows residents to form their relations in cluster by all means fast and effective, connecting innovation oriented companies with science and education resources. The concept where universities become centers of innovations and pushers of the whole innovation implementation process together with government and business structures was put into the core of this project. This idea was developed by Henry Izkovich and known as Trimple Helix concept.

Adjusting the communications between the market members by knowledge, technology? experience and developments transfer  serves as drivers for R&D activities as it stimulates the whole innovation oriented industries. The residents also gain other bonuses - they are exempted from property tax and pay a reduced rate of income tax, thereby
optimizing costs.

That is why we developed the following hypothesis for Nano park positioning - flagman project as a part of North-West pilot innovation cluster in field of pharmaceutical, medical industry and radiation technologies.

As a hallmark for Russian Nano industry this projects serves as a business adaptation and minor innovation manufactures developments commercialization booster. Its main aim is to form infrastructure for Nano industry. Technical and informational consultancy for startups and additional support in investment search for minor enterprises.

Nano park Gatchina serves as a hub that unites various members in a form of intellectual ecosystem - the place where all members can share & transfer new knowledge, ideas, competence and initiatives and have required infrastructure and companies as partners to test and launch the developments into mass production. It will become a single interface with ideal conditions for both giving birth, future growth of innovation technologies and successful implementation of these into the business market and cooperation & communication adjuster.

Brand mission of Nano Park Gatchina - to become a guide between innovations, business and government by creating opportunities for economy of knowledge development and boosting the potential of Russian specialists in our country. Providing comprehensive support, from equipment and infrastructure to accounting, centralized marketing and promotion, support in the search for investors and other service functions, Nanopark is helping Russian scientists and young professionals to realize the commercial potential of their technology.

In Russian the word "artel" came from Italian, meaning crafted worker - artisan. These artels made capable to combine Russian propensity for individual craft with collaborative efforts. First artels in Gatchina were opened in 19th century and some operated through the whole 20th century.

Today, manufacturing facility is still in the minds of developers, designers, engineers and programmers, but for effective conscientious work "team spirit." is required. Under the new conditions, it is becoming the key to the very synergies, allowing us to achieve a new quality of results.

Nano Park Gatchina is the innovative technology park, part of nan centers network, who are formed in different regions in Russia by ROSNANO. But Nano Park in Gatchina carries unique features being bound with radiative technologies. That is why park received its significant name, that bring one to clearly and intelligible of its both sphere of operation (nanotechnologies) and location (Gatchina)

Visual attributes - from logo to thought through navigation system - all come under a single brand strategy of contemporary artel, working as a sort of interface for innovative business. Its main characters - adaptivity, ductility and processability.

The dynamic identity, which was based on proprietary pattern - set of elementary particles, which form a continuous contours and meanings , entering into interaction with each other.

The pattern imposed on the various objects of the objective world, reminds fractal lattice, serving for simulation of different processes, including the phenomena of scale 10-9 - longitudinal prefix "nano" refers to the values of this magnitude. Such cognitive visualization helps to better understand the ideology of Gatchina Nano center, emphasizing innovative and unique character of the brand.
